Plastic Modular Conveyor Belt Methods to ID Belt Material

Place a piece of the module in water
  •  If it floats
It is either Propylene or Ethylene
  •  Then try to scratch it with your thumb nail
          Ethylene will scratch easily.
Propylene is too hard and will not scratch.
  •  If it sinks
It is either Nylon or Acetyl
  •  Take your thumb nail and try to scratch the surface
Acetyl is so hard you will not be able to get your finger nail into the material at all.

Nylon will allow you to feel some texture in the surface of the material, but there will be no scratch.
