Plastic Modular Conveyor Belt Methods to ID Belt Material

Place a piece of the module in water

•  If it floats

•          It is either Propylene or Ethylene

•  Then try to scratch it with your thumb nail

•          Ethylene will scratch easily.

•          Propylene is too hard and will not scratch.

•  If it sinks

•          It is either Nylon or Acetyl

•  Take your thumb nail and try to scratch the surface

•          Acetyl is so hard you will not be able to get your finger nail into the material at all.

•          Nylon will allow you to feel some texture in the surface of the material, but there will be no scratch.
